Fantastic Masterpiece you have done. I truly Love " The Dark Crystal " . The Dark Crystal is a 1982 British-American fantasy film directed by Jim Henson and Frank Oz. It tells the story of Jen, an elflike 'Gelfling' on a quest to restore balance to his alien world by returning a lost shard to a powerful but broken gem. Although marketed as a family film, it was notably darker than the creators' previous material. The animatronics used in the film were considered groundbreaking. The primary concept artist was the fantasy illustrator Brian Froud, famous for his distinctive faerie and dwarf designs. Froud also collaborated with Henson and Oz for their next project, the 1986 film Labyrinth, which was notably more light-hearted than The Dark Crystal. The film stars the voices of Stephen Garlick, Lisa Maxwell and Billie Whitelaw. If you wish you should get this Book, I must buy.
I agree that the Dark Crystal is good and more than great, but it truly is meant for an older audience. I think kids should be at least close to 9 or 10 before they see it.
Though I love the movie now, I saw when I was a kid, and didn't understand it, but at least I wasn't scared of it. Another movie that so many other viewed as good the same year it was released, ET, it may not be a monster movie, but for some reason, ET scared the dickens out of me!
On ET! I took my son to see it when he was only 4 years old in New York City, that's is scary in it self. Back in 1982. All the kids in the movie theater just started CRYING when ER die. All the mothers and I just didn't know what to do. So I said lets show All the kids that ET was NOT DEAD By seeing the whole Movie AGAIN. To me it was Funny as HELL. But it work, To my son I'm a Hero .
Yeah, the part near the end with the bikes and running away from the authorities was funny! Now I can watch the movie and not creep out. I guess I just didn't understand what was going on as a kid in the time of ET being sick and dying. And the docs shocking him just scared me.
Did you know in the original version the police was holding Guns in there hands when the kids on the bikes flew into the sky. In the later version with the extra scene they had radios in there hands instead of guns did you notices.
